Alex O'Connor: Skepticism and Meaning in the 21st Century

The Carnegie Club of St Andrews is delighted to announce our first speaker of Carnegie Conversations: Alex O’Connor, also known as Cosmic Skeptic.

Alex studied philosophy and theology at the University of Oxford and has since then grown his presence from an online commentator to that of a bonafide public intellectual, having conversed with the likes of Slavoj Žižek, Richard Dawkins, and Peter Singer. He is the host of the Within Reason podcast and his YouTube channel has over 80 million views.

Previous philosophical concerns for Alex include the existence of God and theological and animal ethics. Alex’s skeptical approach to these topics will be the main focus of the event, with particular emphasis on its application and limits. There will be a 20-minute address from Alex, followed by a panel with time for the audience to ask Alex questions.

We look forward to seeing everyone there; if you haven’t seen the norms posted on our series announcement, please take a look before attending. In addition, we kindly ask you to respect the following basic rules.
